Join my teacher-friend Cassandra Lee Ferland and me for an adventure to Portugal’s Silver Coast June 8-15, 2019. We’ll be headed to this particularly stunning stretch of coastline between Lisbon and Porto, known for its quaint fishing towns, beautiful beaches, and great surf. The area is filled with UNESCO World Heritage sites- from the Berlengas archipelago to the historic and picturesque city of Sintra, where Portuguese royalty have chosen to summer since the 15th century. Portugal is a wonderful combination of old world charm and laid back beach living.

From Lisbon, it's an hour-long drive along the coast to our venue for the week — a perfectly designed retreat center nestled into the countryside of Lourinha. Luxurious private villas, each with their own heated pool, are set amidst communal spaces — gardens, activity areas (yoga shala, beach volleyball, slack line, climbing wall and more), and plenty of spaces to lounge.

We'll have a private chef whipping up some magic in the kitchen with a hearty post-yoga brunch and 3-course dinner daily. Tea, coffee and light bites will be available before yoga for the early birds. 

We’ll start each day with yoga and meditation in the shala (stocked with mats and props for your use), and offer a late afternoon session for deep relaxation as well. Cassandra will teach the morning sessions, and I’m delighted to bring some gentle moving, self-massage, sound bath, and yoga nidra to the afternoon sessions.

Outside of yoga there is much to see and do, and our location allows for many short day trips throughout the week for those so inclined. Each day you are free to relax by the pool or sea, or head out for a group adventure. Or my favorite, a little bit of both! Some of the activities available include:

• Hiking paths right from the venue

• Bikes available, at no charge, to explore on your own

• Surf lessons available for all levels

• Paddleboarding, kitesurfing, and other water sports at the Obidas Lagoon

• Visit to a local winery and spirits distillery 

• Explore the nearby towns of Obidos and Peniche

• Boat ride to Berlengas archipelago

• Visit to 'Buddha Eden', a nearby sculpture garden

• Day trip to the picturesque northern town of Sintra

• Hiking or cave exploring at the National Park

• Massage/bodywork available

Cost is per person and includes yoga, lodging, pre-yoga refreshments, brunch, and dinner most nights. The last night will be reserved for dinner out on the town. Group/private transport from Lisbon is extra, but can be arranged ahead of time with the venue.
